Suzi Soderlund
lives in the beautiful Pacific Northwest with her husband Mike and
their dog Molly. She found out sometime ago that she is a country
gal. Living in a
rural area where she wants to be.

From where Suzi
and her husband live you can be hiking in mountains or at the ocean
in less than an hour. They love the ease of being able to be play
outdoor right from their home.

Early on the colors, textures
and styles of fabric intrigued Suzi. Her first projects were doll
clothes, followed by clothing for herself and then on into quilting.
Fabric has presented a wonderful medium for creating clothing, quilts
and art.

|
| |
|
| Suzi first quilts were made from
traditional block patterns. But it didn't take long for her to start
designing her own quilts, quilted projects and clothing creations.
She has worked in many different styles from Traditional blocks and
crazy quilts to Seminole to Fabric Collage. Suzi loves being able
to bring the visions in her head into a visible and touchable form. |

Many of the wild places of Alaska have served as an inspiration
for many projects. Suzi has spent the last 20 summers guiding in
Alaska and the Yukon. She gets to take people hiking and river rafting.
|
|
| |
|
| Inspiration can come in the form
of a calving glacier, a moose or bear up close; Denali bathed in alpenglow,
Skilak Lake in her many moods or a 26” Rainbow Trout. |
|
| |
|
| And that is just the beginning
of the adventures in a truly amazing place. Alaska has and will inspire
many projects but there is just so little time in which create them. |
|

Suzi never considered not guiding in Alaska for the summer until
she started marbling fabric. She found a book on marbling fabric
while at a quilt show in Alaska and the idea for Marbled Arts was
born.

This quote by Thoreau hangs in her studio:
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams
Live the life you’ve imagined

Suzi spent quite some time and energy finding the right fabric,
dyes, paints and technique to produce her fabric. We hope you enjoy
them.
